Hi Craig... I'm curious, what does the other side say about the rationale for not accepting Brittany Ayala's appointment? Anything specific? It sure sounds like a case of "progressive" Democrats pretending to care about diversity, but actually having other agendas. (In Portland, where I live now, similar shenanigans sometimes take place.) It's also very odd that a teachers' union in the Bay Area would have MAGA sympathies.

First, they questioned her qualifications, but that didn’t stick; then it was about letting voters decide, which would have been fine in they had said the same about all the white board members who had been appointed over the years. This really comes down to tribal politics and blind loyalties. Facts always take a backseat to those things, which is why I think so many Americans are discussed with politics across the board. I don’t think the teachers union did its homework when it endorsed the MAGA donor, but that’s no excuse for sticking with the endorsement after the truth came out. In this case, they simply feel entitled to the seat because who could possibly be more qualified than their former president? Of course, they simply could have waited for the regular election in a year and a half to make the case.

Re-posting. Thank you Craig for highlighting the hypocrisy of our values and endorsement process.

As Past Chair of the DPCCC, the Endorsement Process was flawed. We did not follow our process. The leadership in its infinite wisdom decided to make this a ‘swift’ process by one, not following our process and , two, not fully discussing the background of the Martinez Education Association’s candidate’s background, nor Brittany Ayala’s qualifications.

As a Latina born in Martinez, the flawed endorsement process and the ‘behind the scenes’ shenanigans by our Party leaders & cohorts is troublesome.

Let’s all work to re-store our Democracy and Elect Brittany to MUSD.

Partisan politics seems to lead to corruption, no matter what, and I appreciate the window into how it starts at the local level, even here in our hometown. Keep up the good work of exposing what lurks beneath.
