Who is to blame for the outcome? What's next for democracy? Where did the Harris campaign go wrong and did it even matter? Do Trump supporters deserve our respect and understanding? What can we do?
Thank you for your commentary on the many threads of the current state of our nation. About the money in politics problem, both sides-ism doesn't explain the truth and isn't accurate reasoning. ("...groups on all sides constantly trying to manipulate, mislead and deceive voters...") If you review those mailers, it will be more clear.
I was happy to see a discussion of the establishment media crisis now blowing up. There are many podcasts doing good work and they need support. Thanks again for your work.
Thanks for your support and sharing your thoughts, Kathy. I generally agree with what you say about both sides-isms and false equivalencies. The situation is clearly far worse on one side than the other, but it disappointing to see the side seeking to protect democracy and uphold basic truths also resort to some degree of deception in political campaigns. Perhaps they believe they have no choice (the problem is more with organized interest groups/PACs rather than the party and individual campaigns). Yes, the mailers were more egregious from one group than the other. As far as the national campaign, it was disappointing to see so many texts and emails from campaigns that I was supporting financially be filled with information that I knew to be either false, manipulative or highly misleading. It honestly became exhausting and made me question why I was even handing over my own money when this was the way I was treated. If it weren't for the existential threat I thought Trump and MAGA posed, I would have just stopped. There has to be a better way.
